After School Help Day
Mr. Williams stays after school on Fridays from 2:00-3:30p for students requesting assistance or wanting to use a practice room. If no students are signed up for staying after by 2:00p, Mr. Williams may not stay after however. Please sign the list on the door and try to let Mr. Williams know you plan to stay.
Mr. Williams usually stays after on Tuesday and Thursday to work. Although he may not be availble for one-on-one assistance, students may sign up to stay after and use a practice room from 2:00-4:00.
Junior High Band
This course offers instrumental ensemble instruction directed towards the attainment of: musical styles and quality literature; proper individual playing habits; proper ensemble habits; basic elements of music; and responsibilities as they relate to individuals and to the group. Through warm-ups, scale and technical drills, and performance repertoire, attention is given to: tone – blend; technique; rhythmic reading; appropriate style; phrasing; intonation; and theory – history.
Typically two concerts will be performed each year; in addition to participation in the annual Memorial Day parade with the high school band. Evening and non-school day performance will be scheduled at least three (3) weeks prior to the performance.
Assessments will be determined by daily participation in class, individual preparation of band music and technical exercises, attendance at required performances, and semester playing and/or written examinations. Additional credit may be awarded for participation in other music related activities such as, but not limited to, private instrumental lessons, district and state instrumental festivals, and performing in other instrumental ensembles.
